5 Most Common Mistakes People Make In Selecting The Right Lubricant Manufacturing

In today's world, lubricants are used in everything from cars to cell phones. In the simplest terms, a lubricant is anything that decreases friction. That being said, not all lubricants are created equal and selecting the right one is crucial for performance and long-term health of your equipment. Here are 5 mistakes people make when selecting the right Lubricant Manufacturers in India that you should avoid.

Lubricant Manufacturers in India

1. Failing to understand the differences between greases and oils.

Many people assume all lubricants are one in the same, but this is not true. Oils are generally clear liquids whereas grease is usually thick and opaque. Many people don't know or forget that grease comes in both petroleum base and synthetic-based. Oils are more often than not thinner, while greases offer necessary thickening agents to achieve required viscosity levels. There is a time and place for both oils and greases in accordance with what you're trying to lubricate.

2. Not doing your home work on the specific equipment manufacturers needs.

It's important to find out what the equipment manufacturer recommends in terms of lubricant before specifying products to be used on your jobsite. Failing to do so could lead to costly down time and repairs caused by incompatible products, which leads me right into my next point.

3. Focusing too much on price and not on performance, durability or compatibility.

Many people are under the assumption that the lowest price oil or grease is always best for their application. This couldn't be further from the truth! Many times products of lesser cost lack proper additives which leads to more wear on equipment and poor protection of components. If you have experience with lubricant manufacturers, you know that it is typically the higher priced oils and greases that perform better, offer protection even in extreme temperature conditions, and provide lubrication over a longer period of time.

4. Failing to specify environmental conditions and type of equipment to be used.

It's important to understand the harshness of the environment you'll be working in. For example, will your equipment be exposed to extreme cold or hot temperatures? Is it used on the surface of the Earth (low gravity), such as on a satellite, or even worse, is it used beyond our terrestrial sphere (high gravity)? Knowing these answers can help you choose more appropriate products and help you avoid costly trial and error.

5. Not specifying the right viscosity levels for your job.

This is crucial because many Lubricant Manufacturers in India don't even know how to properly fill their containers with product! A common mistake that some lubricant manufacturers make is filling containers with product up to the neck which leaves little room for expansion caused by temperature changes or vacuum created upon start up. This creates excessive pressure when the product is dispensed through the spout! A good manufacturer will fill their container to around 80-90% of capacity leaving room for expansion where a bad one will fill theirs all the way to the top.

The wrong viscosity level can cause poor performance and even more costly repairs if your equipment is exposed to extreme environmental conditions.
